The Waste Management Convenience Centers in Gloucester County operate on the following schedule: Phone number: 804-693-5109.
Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Holiday Closings: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas
Other changes to the schedule will be posted at the Centers and in local newspapers.
Gloucester County residents may dispose of appropriate household trash and waste at the County’s convenience centers. Gloucester County businesses may dispose of appropriate trash and waste at the County’s convenience centers as long as the trash and waste were generated within the County. Household appliances/TVs and furniture may also be disposed of at a convenience center.
Yard waste such as pine needles, debris from small pruning jobs, brush, limbs, demolished outbuildings or sheds that do not exceed 7.5 by 10 feet, etc. may be disposed of at a convenience center as long as the amount does not exceed four cubic yards (approximately a pickup truck load).
Auto and marine batteries can be returned to the store when you purchase a new battery and are accepted at most auto part stores in Gloucester. Rechargeable tool batteries can be recycled at the Gloucester Home Depot and Lowes. Regular household alkaline batteries can be put in the trash but lithium, rechargeable and button batteries can be taken to the main Gloucester library where they have a collection container. The batteries are sent off and recycled.
Grill propane tanks can be taken to any Blue Rhino location in Gloucester (Walmart, Food Lions, Lowes, Rite Aids and Walgreens).
Large items such as trees, boats, building debris that fits in a regular sized large pick up truck must be taken to the main landfill at the Middle Peninsula Landfill and Recycling Center.
Household Harmful Waste
Household harmful waste items should be disposed of during one of the County’s two Household Harmful Waste disposal events. On the third Saturday in April, the Household Harmful Waste collection is held at the Middle Peninsula Landfill and Recycling Center. In October, the collection is held on the third Saturday at the Hayes Convenience Center.
Residents from counties other than Gloucester County, businesses from outside Gloucester County who are working in Gloucester County (including subcontractors from outside Gloucester County even if they are working for contractors located within Gloucester County), and Gloucester County businesses disposing of waste and trash generated outside Gloucester County must take the waste and trash to the main landfill at the Middle Peninsula Landfill and Recycling Center. Certain types of demolition debris and materials are not accepted at Convenience Centers and should be taken to Middle Peninsula Landfill and Recycling Center for disposal. Contact Waste Management at 804-693-5109 for specific guidance. A disposal fee will apply.
